My approach
Inspired by travels and encounters, I am nourished by the play of materials and colours to allow the expression of an inhabited sensitivity, specific to each ceramic. The character of each one is suggested to me by the play of curves in the clay and the possibilities of movement in the glaze. The shape then guides the composition to reveal the personality of each piece. I apply my glazes with a brush, trusting the gesture and the moment.
I like to create varied and changing designs. They reveal either the line of a garment, a skin, a story and give free rein to the multiplicity of stories. The depth of the ceramic colour, the glaze, is the basis of my creations. Like the impressionist painter, I compose my own palettes to let the light and its movement at the heart of my proposals. My ceramics condense the power of life, the vital force that fire has imprinted on the earth in the kiln, and the intelligence of man to imagine and remember.
I tend to combine the freedom of the beholder with the suggestive power of emotions. The heart of my creativity is expressed through the infinite games offered by the PICTURE collection. Based on seven matte glazes of my own composition, I explore the twelve effects it contains by combining balance and fantasy. Its colourful harmony allows me to constantly revisit the approach to colour in the service of each piece.
My background
I was trained by Augusto Tozzola, a renowned turner and teacher, from October 2013 to June 2015. This period allowed me to experience the intense life of the workshop and to choose in fine another professional voice after a first career in communication. With a degree in political philosophy, I have always pursued several paths between reflection and expression, practicing several instruments and plastic arts. At the time of my reconversion, I was exploring the world of movement theatre. A certain sensitive continuity revealed itself to me with the learning of turning.
Turning connects me to an emotional intelligence, to a relaxed demand that mobilises totally, where the course of time tranquilises the gestures. A certain internal silence connects our being to our creation. It is a matter of attentive relaxation, acquired through experience, repetition, failure, humility in the face of the material. The second strong element of my journey is my relationship with enamel. I followed a strong call for colour and the mysteries of its rendering in ceramics, sharpened by my encounters and my wanderings in potters' markets. Enamel has always spoken to me through its depth, subtlety and effects. I have made it the heart of my creative approach.
I am nourished by these two moments, throwing and creating enamel, both meticulous, ancestral know-how, and always fundamentally in dialogue with the clay. I am a member of Ateliers d'art de France since 2018.
