The men, the nature and the landscape of the Bay
The Eco-museum of the Bay is situated in an old farm on the edge of the pre-salted land and benefits from a remarkable view over the Bay, the Mont-Saint-Michel and Tombelaine.
Discover and understand …
Over more than 400 m2,
an exhibition on man, nature and the landscape of the Bay helps you to discover the different environments – the sea, the earth, the air and their "occupants". Take the time to understand
the formation of the Bay and the action of man on the landscape. Follow a large painting which will allow you to follow
the life of several animals « actors » at the end of the seasons. Decipher this avid eco-system which is complex, yet fragile.
The fishing which is still practiced in the Bay and
the fabrication of " ignifère" salt disappeared in the mid XIX century, are highlighted for their value. These different areas are illustrated by films, moulds, interactive posts and a "saunier" workshop which are open to all.
In 2021, discover a new exhibition:
"Fishing and fishermen in the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel, photos by François Levalet"
Covering more than 500 km², the Bay of Mont Saint-Michel is an immense mosaic of natural environments. Here the rivers wander through salt meadows and sandbanks regularly covered by the highest tides in Europe. A veritable nursery for dozens of species of fish, the Bay has always been a huge larder for mankind. Thanks to his aerial kite photographs, François Levalet takes us on a journey of discovery of these fishermen and their techniques.
